KEY POINTS

  • Apple introduced the 16-inch MacBook Pro this year with a new set of keyboard and a more powerful tech in the hopes that it will not suffer the same fate (in terms of bugs) as its older siblings
  • It appears that after the issue about the popping sound, the 16-inch MacBook Pro has a new issue similar to that of MacBook Air
  • Owners of 16-inch MacBook Pro are reporting about the brightness level of the laptop's display

Apple released this year the 16-inch MacBook Pro, which is, by far, one of its powerful MacBooks. The new and more significant model features a new set of keyboard keys, which solved the issues of the past generation MacBooks. But, it is far from perfect too, and new reports reveal after the popping sound issue, users are now complaining about the screen brightness of the 16-inch MacBook Pro.

Several 16-inch MacBook Pro users noticed that the screen of their brand new Apple premium laptop could not reach the levels of brightness that they were used to with previous-generation MacBook Pros. After carefully observing their laptops, users discovered that the software reduces the brightness level of the 16-inch MacBook Pro after it awakens from sleep. This happens even the users set the display brightness to its maximum level, MacRumors reports.

The initial assumption is that the latest 16-inch MacBook Pro issue is caused by its operating system that automatically reduces the display’s brightness to a level much lower than the one set by the user. Some users shared the same experience on the forums of MacRumors even if True Tone, Automatic Brightness, and Auto-Dimming on Batter settings were disabled.

Apple previously rolled out a software fix that increased the brightness of the screen from 300 nits to 400 nits when the same issue was reported by MacBook Air users in the past. Tech site Laptop Mag gauged the brightness of 16-inch MacBook Pro’s screen, which is 429 nits. Lisa of Mobile Tech Review, meanwhile, got a 416 nits measurement, while some owners share on several online forum sites a measurement of 400 nits on 16-inch MacBook Pro’s screen brightness.

At this point, it is not yet clear if the issue is caused by software or hardware. If it is a software issue similar to MacBook Air, Apple would most likely roll out a fix through a software update. But, it also underlines that the Cupertino company is struggling to keep up the QA process in the software division.

Over the years, Apple’s MacBook laptops have been riddled with bugs, and the company is hoping that it would no longer happen with the 16-inch MacBook Pro. But, it seems the new premium Apple laptop has a new set of bugs and issues of its own.
