The winners of the 42nd annual NAACP Image Awards were announced on March 4, 2011.
The 2011 edition of the Awards celebrating the outstanding achievements and performances of people of color in the arts (television, recording, literature, motion picture and writing & directing), as well as those individuals or groups who promote social justice through their creative endeavors were handed out at The Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, California.

Condoleezza Rice won an award in 2011 in the category of Outstanding Literary Work Youth/Teens for 'A Memoir of My Extraordinary, Ordinary Family and Me by Condoleezza Rice.'"Rich in tradition and heritage, but still in constant renewal, literature is probably the oldest of our forms of artistic expression.
