2013 MTV EMAs Winners: Miley Cyrus, Eminem, Beyoncé Honored At Europe Music Awards In Amsterdam [PHOTOS]
The 2013 MTV Europe Music Awards kicked off Sunday at the Ziggo Dome in Amsterdam, with performances by Katy Perry, Miley Cyrus, Robin Thicke, Bruno Mars, The Killers and more. The awards show, hosted by Stefan Kendal Gordy, better known as LMFAO’s Redfoo, opened with a performance of “We Can’t Stop” by Miley Cyrus.
A number of talented artists were awarded at the MTV EMAs, including “Thrift Shop” duo Macklemore and Ryan Lewis for “Best New Act,” Beyonce for “Best Live,” and Katy Perry for “Best Female.”
In case you missed the 2013 MTV EMAs, a few of the highlights from the night included a clumsy striptease by Redfoo, Miley Cyrus smoking on stage, and Katy Perry’s performance of “Unconditionality” during which she took flight in a glimmering body suit. Switching gears, Jared Leto of the band 30 Seconds to Mars asked for a moment of silence for victims of Typhoon Haiyan which devastated parts of the Philippines on Friday.
Justin Timberlake was among the most nominated artists of the evening, but did not walk away with any awards. Eminem, on the other hand, was the crème de la crème of the 2013 MTV EMAs, picking up two awards for “Best Hip Hop” and the prestigious “Global Icon” award.
"He is on his way to this fine city right now as we speak," Bruce Gillmer, co-executive producer of the EMAs and an executive VP of Viacom International Media Networks, told Hollywood Reporter. "Eminem is absolutely one of the most creative and unique artists of our time."
