Football star Aaron Rodgers has been announced as the next guest “Jeopardy” host for April 5 through April 16 and as it turns out, he loved the game show as he was growing up.

The show released a promo clip on Friday of Rodgers explaining his excitement to host the show. He had announced in January that he would love the opportunity to be able to be a guest judge on the show.

"Growing up, it was my favorite show," he said.

"Other than the Super Bowl, this is the honor of a lifetime. Following in the footsteps of a legend is something I know a little bit about," Rodgers stated, referring to Brett Farve and Alex Trebek.

In a phone interview with ESPN, he gave insight on how he’s prepared for his big break on the show.

"I watched hours and hours and hours of episodes," Rodgers said. "Luckily Netflix has a few seasons, and I went back to DVR. But I had to watch from a different perspective -- from Alex's perspective. I couldn't watch it as a fan anymore.”

"I took pages and pages and pages of notes. I wrote down every affirmative that he said to any type of clue. I wrote down how he would respond if they didn't get it right. I wrote down beat points of the show. I wrote down all the different ways he would take it to break. I wrote down the stuff that he said coming out of break. Literally, I studied for this like no other. I wanted to absolutely just crush it,” he continued.

Along with hosting, he also announced that he’ll be working with the North Valley Community Foundation that donates money to small businesses. He’s already donated $1 million to the organization and plans on working with the show to match the daily winner’s prize amount and donating it to the cause.

The 38-year-old was previously on a celebrity episode of “Jeopardy” in 2015 where he came out on top.

Other guest hosts have included Ken Jennings, Katie Couric and Mike Richards already and Anderson Cooper, Savannah Guthrie and Mayim Bialik will host after Rodgers.
