  • Gianluigi Donnammura is one of the bright promising players of AC Milan
  • Multiple clubs are gaining interest for the young goalkeeper
  • Donnammura reportedly said that he would prefer Barcelona over Real Madrid if given the opportunity

Reports have circulated that AC Milan’s goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma prefers Barcelona over Real Madrid as a potential possible destination.

The young promising standout has served in Milan’s program since his stint as a junior in 2013. The 21-year-old has shown promise of potential throughout his stay with the Serie A team as he was already named as the team’s starting keeper.

Throughout his time with Milan, Donnarumma has tallied a total of 190 appearances. Within those matches, he was able to establish his defensive capabilities as he notched 69 clean sheets.

To add to these, he is also known as one of the younger players to burst into the international scene. As a member of the Italian national team, Donnarumma became the youngest goalkeeper to ever make and play for the team.

Given Donnarumma’s consistent performance in Milan, teams have already been rumored as suitors for the six-foot-five goalie. Clubs are reportedly interested in his great physical attributes in combination with the ton of potential he posses. Among these teams include Barcelona and Real Madrid in which both are eyeing a potential backup goalkeeper.

For Los Blancos, Zinedine Zidane’s club has Andriy Lunin already within their roster but could add more depth to the position. In addition to Zidane’s son, Luca in the team, having someone of Donnarumma’s caliber will be a big boost for the club. It is speculated that Real Madrid could cook up a two-year contract for the Italian.

But per Everything Barca, this seems unlikely as Donnarumma reportedly shared that he prefers Barcelona as his ideal location. If he were to leave AC Milan for a chance to play in either Real Madrid or Barcelona, he would choose to don the colors of Barca. If this opportunity comes in the next few years, he said he would sign with the Catalan club as revealed in Don Balon.

Given the current situation, it will be interesting to see how clubs will turn out with these rumors circulating. With Donnarumma’s contract set to expire in 2021, possible deals may brew up for Milan to make the most out of their asset.
