Alex Rodriguez had a lot of things to celebrate following his split from Jennifer Lopez, so he went on a European yacht trip with his friends.

Rodriguez has set sail on a European yacht trip to celebrate his upcoming 46th birthday next Tuesday. He was also recently approved by the NBA as one of the owners of the Timberwolves.

Rodriguez was spotted enjoying lunch with his friends and family at Splendido Mare hotel eatery DAV Mare in Portofino, Italy Thursday, Page Six reported.

The former Yankees player and his pals then boarded a luxury yacht to head to St. Tropez, Monte Carlo and Ibiza for a two-week vacation.

Rodriguez's nephew Nick Silva, who also works for his firm A-Rod Corp, shared a snap from their trip on his Instagram Stories while on the yacht. The former MLB star is in the background sitting on a chair with another pal.

"Euro trip 2k21!" Silva wrote in the caption.

This week, Rodriguez was approved with business partner Marc Lore as among the owners of NBA's Minnesota Timberwolves franchise. The offer was accepted in April and also includes an ownership stake in the Minnesota Lynx. Although Rodriguez seems to be enjoying his trip, it is reportedly not pure fun, according to an insider.

"A-Rod was in Europe for some business meetings," an unnamed source told Page Six, adding that he then met his family and friends on a birthday boat trip.

Prior to the Europe trip, he was spotted out in the Hamptons this summer. He rented a home near the mansion of his ex-fiancée, Lopez. He was also spotted enjoying swanky summer parties but spent most of the time alone, the outlet noted.

Rodriguez and Lopez were supposed to tie the knot last year. They moved their wedding due to the pandemic and called off their engagement in April. Lopez reunited with Ben Affleck weeks after their split.

The athlete was reportedly hoping that they would reconcile. However, after learning that she and Affleck got back together, he decided that they were over for good.

"When they first split, he wanted to work things out, and still held on to hope that he and J.Lo would get back together," an unnamed source told Entertainment Tonight. "He's come to terms with the fact that it's over now."
