The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI) issued an amber alert Tuesday for a three-week-old baby who was believed to be abducted by his father.

The baby’s name was Steven Smith, and he was described as having black hair, brown eyes and weighing seven pounds.

He was last seen wearing a black t-shirt and diaper. The kidnapping suspect was 21-year-old Stevie Boyd, who was allegedly the baby’s non-custodial father. Boyd was six-foot tall and weighed approximately 136 pounds. He had black hair, brown eyes and was last seen wearing a red or black-colored hat and black clothes, according to Memphis Police Department (MPD).

According to the police, Boyd abducted the child from the latter’s mother’s home in the 4200 block of Graceland Avenue, Peppertree Apartments in Whitehaven, Memphis, around 10:50 p.m. local time (11:50 p.m. EDT) Tuesday. The suspect was believed to have been fired a round of shots at the mother of the child with a revolver before fleeing with Smith, Fox 13 reported.

Officials said Boyd should be considered armed and dangerous.

In addition to the amber alert, the MPD also issued a City Watch for the missing infant. People with any information regarding either Boyd or Smith were urged to call 911 or 1-800-TBI-FIND. One can also call Memphis Police Department at (901) 545-2677.
