KEY POINTS

  • Popular hot drop zones include Estates, Hammond Labs and the Orbital Cannon
  • Fight Night, Velvet Oasis and the high ground by Hammon Lab's Turbine entrance are great dop locations
  • Try to loot near a hot spot then engage any remaining squads inside the actual POI

Respawn Entertainment is celebrating the start of “Apex Legends” Season 9 and the release of the new Infested Olympus map with a one-week-long Olympus-only playlist for the standard Duos and Trios. Players won’t have much of a choice in terms of what map to play this week, so it’s best to make the most out of the situation.

There are dozens upon dozens of good landing spots in Olympus, but the ones with the best loot like Estates, Orbital Cannon and the new Icarus POI tend to be very high-traffic areas that can easily get a squad killed. Hot dropping in “Apex Legends” is just as risky as with other battle royales, so it’s best to land somewhere safe yet advantageous.

Here are some of the best landing spots in Olympus as well as some tips on how to win those early game fights.

Velvet Oasis – Underpass

The twin towers of the Velvet Oasis each have decent loot in and around them, but the underpass that connects both buildings typically has a number of armor shields and weapons by the information kiosks near the elevator shafts. This is a great spot to rush for teams who want a shot at getting a gold or purple shield early in the game.

Rushing the underpass will also give squads the upper hand against teams who dropped on the surface. Try to get back up as soon as possible and wipe any other teams that might still be fighting.

Hammond Labs – Above the Turbine entrance

The small platform above the Turbine entrance in front of Hammond Labs is a great spot to land because of the three chests by the waterfall. The center chest has a decently high chance of containing a rare item like a purple or gold armor shield or a fully-kitted medium-range weapon like a Hemlok, 30-30 Repeater or Longbow.

Looting this area gives players a big advantage in fights that might break out around the open fields in Hammond Labs and the nearby Energy Depot.

Fight Night – Docks

The dock area near Fight Night contains tons of loot and the docked ship has a high chance of containing mid-tier items like blue armor and attachments. It’s also within earshot of the boxing arena, with multiple options to approach the building.

The ship and the docks give players a good chance to get geared up, while the loudspeakers of the Fight Night arena will notify players whenever enemy teams enter the ring.
