While Thanksgiving gatherings may be smaller this year, fans of daytime soap operas may still need to adjust their viewing schedules for the holiday, as not all of their favorite shows will be airing new episodes.

According to local schedules for ABC, CBS and NBC, “General Hospital,“The Young and the Restless,” The Bold and the Beautiful” and “Days of Our Lives” are all going to face some adjustments to their schedules due to the Thanksgiving holiday.

On NBC, “Days of Our Lives” will be preempted on Thursday for special coverage. Per tradition, the network is forgoing their usual daily coverage for holiday events, beginning at 9 a.m. with live coverage of the 94th Annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. While this year won’t see a traditional parade route or spectators, it will still feature some new balloons and entertainment, including the Red Titan from “Ryan’s World” and “The Boss Baby” balloons as well as The Big Turkey Spectacular, Christmas in Town Square, Her Future Is Stem-Sational and Tom & Jerry’s Tourist Trap floats.

At noon, when “Days” typically airs, the National Dog Show will be taking its place. Following COVID-19 guidelines, the show was also filmed without spectators. A re-broadcast of the parade will then air at 2 p.m. as well, pre-empting traditional afternoon coverage as well.

Over on CBS, both “Young and the Restless” and “Bold and the Beautiful” are set to be pre-empted from their timeslots for Thanksgiving, in favor of NFL Football coverage of the Houston Texans at Detroit Lions.

However, “General Hospital” fans should be in luck, as the show appears to be airing in its usual time slot in each market, though spoilers indicate it won’t be a new episode. Instead, a re-broadcast of the Dec. 23, 2019, Christmas episode will air.

Most regularly scheduled programming is expected to resume on Friday, Nov. 27, thought “General Hospital” will be pre-empted for coverage of College Football, featuring a game between the Iowa State Cyclones and Texas Longhorns.
