  • Ariel Winter supports Britney Spears and said the singer is incredible
  • The "Modern Family" star finds Spears smart and capable
  • Winter added that Spears should be free to live her life and be in control

Ariel Winter has joined Britney Spears' fans and supporters who want the singer out of her conservatorship.

The "Modern Family" star discussed with Entertainment Tonight her perspective on the pop princess's conservatorship. ET asked Winter about it because the actress knows a thing about a tough parent-child relationship since she was emancipated in 2015. For the 23-year-old actress, Spears should be freed from the conservatorship.

"I support Britney. I think Britney is incredible," she told ET. "Her story's incredibly moving. I listened to her testimony."

The "Toxic" singer gave her testimony in court on June 23 where she shared about her dad Jamie Spears' alleged abuse. Spears said her dad has been mistreating her and controlling her life decisions, such as having kids, the outfits she wears, the design of her home and many more. Winter sympathized with the singer.

"I think [Spears] is so smart, so capable. She should absolutely be free to live her life, be in control of her life, in control of herself. I think it's absurd that this is the situation that she has to be in," Winter added.

"I feel for [Spears]. I hope she gets to be in control of her life, her situation, everything, as soon as possible. I truly hope that people who have kept her away from doing that do suffer some sort of consequences because she deserves all the happiness, the freedom, the love and the control of her life that she should have."

Winter and her mother, Crystal Workman, also do not share a good relationship. In 2017, Winter said that she was dressed sexually by her mom in "the smallest miniskirts, sailor suits, low-cut things, the shortest dresses you've ever seen."

"People thought I was 24 when I was 12. If there was going to be a nude scene when I was that age, my mother would have a thousand percent said yes," she told The Hollywood Reporter.

Workman denied it and said her daughter's continuous attack against her was "heartbreaking." She also accused Winter of doing it for clout because "she enjoys the attention she gets from it."

However, Winter's on-set teacher supported her allegations against her mom. According to Sharon Sacks, there were times when she would arrive on the set hungry and sleep-deprived.
