Mean Girls star Lindsay Lohan, who was handed down 120 days in jail and 480 hours of community service for violating her probation, said she is kinda shocked by the sentence but is ready to face the consequences for attempting to steal a $2,500 necklace from a swanky jewelry store in Los Angeles and will plead no contest to the theft charge as early as next week.

I've made a lot of poor decisions in the past and I'm dealing with the consequences of those decisions. I was kinda shocked (by the sentence). We didn't really expect the outcome to be what it was, but I'm a big girl and I'm gonna do what I'm told to do and that's what I have to do to continue on with working in my life and I'm taking responsibility, Lindsay said in an interview with US talk show host Jay Leno, which aired on Tuesday night.

The Hollywood actress, whose acting career has been looking south for the past several years, has come to terms with the consequences of her actions and now is all set to plead no contest to the charges of necklace theft.

Lindsay said the jail term was a wake-up call for her. It was definitely shocking. I was kinda numb, she said. Lindsay is free on bail and plans to appeal her sentence.

However, I'm a fighter and I know that I have to work to gain back the respect back, and I'm willing to do the work that I have to do to follow through with being an actress, Lindsay added.

So Lindsay and her lawyer Shawn Holley are all set to go back to Judge Stephanie Sautner as early as next week and plead no contest to the theft charge. Earlier the actress had turned down a plea deal. Her trial for theft is scheduled to start May 11.

A source close to the developments said the actress, who has been picked for a plum role in upcoming mob movie Gotti: Three Generations, is hoping that Sautner will be lenient on her and not add extra jail term to the 120 days she'll already be serving for a probation violation. And even if she is sentenced to jail, it will not be for more than a few weeks as the original felony theft charge has been reduced to a misdemeanor.

I feel like I've let a lot of my fans down by putting myself in situations when I was young and I wasn't thinking clearly. [But] my fans have been really supportive, so thank you, the actress said.

Meanwhile, Lindsay has signed up at the Downtown Women's Center to begin her community service. It is believed that she will be conducting a theater workshop for underprivileged women at the homeless shelter. The workshop is called Dames Investing in Very Authentic Storytelling, or DIVAS, and emphasizes performance as a way for women to express themselves.

The Freaky Friday star will be serving 360 hours at the homeless shelter and the remaining 120 hours serving as a janitor at the Los Angeles County Morgue.
