Russian Scientist: We’re Going To Meet Aliens Within 20 Years

Get ready to take them to our leader.

According to Russian scientist, Andrei Finkelstein, humans are going to meet aliens within 20 years. The scientist, who is head of Russian Academy of Sciences' Applied Astronomy Institute in St. Petersburg, says it is inevitable.

The genesis of life is as inevitable as the formation of atoms... Life exists on other planets and we will find it within 20 years, Finkelstein said.

Finkelstein said there are so many planets in the Universe, beyond our solar system, that contain multiple similarities to Earth which make them livable. In his view, these planets make up 10 percent of the galaxy. If water is found on any of these planets, so can life he says.

Finkelstein opines that aliens may be very similar in form to humans with two arms, two legs and a head. They may have different color skin, but even we have that, he said.

The Russian Academy of Sciences' Applied Astronomy Institute was launched during the Cold War. It is a civil, non-governed organization that was chartered by the Soviet government to watch for and beam out radio signals to outer space.

The search for extraterrestrial life has fascinated humans probably since the beginning of time. Scientists have long searched for and looked to calculate the likelihood of alien life forms. Dr. Frank Drake, an astronomer and astrophysicist at the University of California at Santa Cruz, estimated by his calculations that 10,000 planets in the Milky Way Galaxy have intelligent life. Over the years, scientists have looked to the planets in our solar system to see if there is alien life, thus far nothing concrete has come up.

Of course, the most popular forum for Earth's fascination for extraterrestrial life has been in science fiction. Numerous TV shows and movies have revolved around alien, typically invading the Earth.
