Britain's Prince William and his wife Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge (Kate Middleton) arrived in Canada on Thursday for their first official visit overseas as a married couple.

The Royal couple will tour seven cities in four provinces and one territory in Canada before heading to California on July 8.

The newly married Royal Couple lay flowers at the National War Memorial in Ottawa on June 30 and will also join millions of Canadians to take part in Canada Day celebrations which mark Canada's 144th Birthday on July 1.

Ottawa is the start of a 12-day visit to North America which will take in some of the more remote areas of the country such as Prince Edward Island, Yellowknife and Calgary.
