Samsung Galaxy S II hits 3 millions, thanks to delay in launch of iPhone 5
Samsung Galaxy S II has indeed taken advantage of the delay of Apple’s iPhone 5 launch. Samsung has broken its own record by reaching the sales of 3 million within 55 days.
Apple euphemistically acknowledged Samsung Galaxy's might when Apple recently filed a lawsuit against Samsung charging it of replicating its iPad, iPhone and iPod designs in the Galaxy series of Android devices.
Samsung followed Apple's iPad 2 mantra - slimmer, faster and lighter - to produce an ultra-thin phone, the Galaxy S II. The phone is merely 8.5mm (0.33-inch) thick compared to iPhone 4's 9.3 mm thicknesses. The phone weighs 4 ounces compared to iPhone 4's 4.8 ounces.
Samsung Galaxy S II sports a 4.3-inch AMOLED display with 800x480 screen resolution. It is powered by a dual-core 1GHz ARM Cortex-A9 Mali-400MP GPU Orion chipset processor. The Galaxy S 2 sports 1 GB RAM and comes in 16 GB and 32 GB internal memory configurations. The phone also sports an 8 MP rear-facing and 2 MP front facing camera. Galaxy S II has 1080p video capture capability. The phone optimizes Google's Android 2.3 or Gingerbread.
iPhone 5 has to counter these features. With iPhones expansion to various carriers apart from AT&T and Verizon, it may give a competition to the Android market.
Galaxy S II phones have been selling at a rate of one every 1.5 seconds. It has seen most of the success in the continent of Europe.
