United States will play against Japan in the FIFA Women’s World Cup final on Sunday, July 17, after both sides recorded 3-1 victories in the semi-finals.
US to overcome France 3-1 in the first semi-final scored twice in the last 11 minutes.
Laura Cheney gave the 1991 and 1999 world champions a ninth-minute lead but Sonia Bompaster deservedly drew France, who knocked out
England in the quarter-finals, level before half-time, the Guardian reported.
Japan beating Sweden 3-1 also entered into finals.
Homare Sawa poor back-pass gave Sweden an early lead but nine minutes later Nahomi Kawasumi equalized.
The match turned Japan's way in the second half when Kawasumi caught Hedvig Lindahl off her line and lobbed her from 35 yards for the third goal, the Guardian reported.
