The U.S. House of Representatives passed the American Clean Energy and Security Act in a historic vote on Friday evening by a final count of 219 to 212. Supporters of the bill needed a simple majority of 218 votes.The Senate is expected to write its own version of the legislation before it can be passed to President Obama, who is actively promoting the policies to put the U.S. into a clean energy economy path.In a breakdown by party affiliation, 211 Democrats voted for the bill and 44 against, with one not voting.
