A Record-Breaking Rope Walk on Germany's Highest Ropeway (PHOTOS)

Freddy Nock, an acrobat from Switzerland, wowed the eager onlookers as he won great applause for a balancing act, breaking his own record for charity. He did a rope walk on the ropeway of a cable car leading on Germany's highest mountain, the 2,962 meter (9,718 feet) Zugspitze, on August 20, 2011.

The Swiss acrobat balanced on the 995 meters long rope to the mountain, near the southern Bavarian resort of Garmisch-Partenkirchen.

On August 30, 2009, he broke a world record by doing a rope walk on the same ropeway in Germany.

Nock also crossed the old town of Thun over a distance of some 160 metres (522 ft) at a height of of 25 metres (81 ft) on November 4, 2010.

More recently in January 2011, Nock rope-walked down the cable of a funicular on the Mount Corvatsch (3,303 m/9,908 ft) near the Swiss mountain resort of St. Moritz. He walked down the cable over a distance of some 1,600 metres (5,249 ft) from the mountain station of the cable car in 3,303 metres (10,836 ft) altitude to the middle station (2,702 metres/8,865 ft altitude).
