Arrested Development is making a grand return, first with a limited television run followed by the release of a movie, show creator Mitchell Hurwitz confirmed on Sunday.

Hurwitz made the announcement at the New Yorker Festival in New York City, where he was joined by Arrested Development cast members, including Jason Bateman, Michael Cera, Will Arnett and Portia de Rossi.

Just creatively, I have been working on the screenplay for a long time and found that as time went by, there was so much more to the story, said Hurwitz at the festival.

Here are five things to know about the new season of Arrested Development:

1) It'll really be a 'limited' season. Unlike the show's previous three seasons (which had 22, 18 and 13 episodes, respectively), the new season of Arrested Development will consist of at least 10, said Hurwitz on Sunday.

Each episode will likely focus on one character, with the first centering on Buster (Tony Hale).

We'll do this kind of thing that builds the peril of their lives until they all come together, really, in the first scene of the movie, said Hurwitz.

2) Tune into Showtime and/or Netflix for the new season. While Fox aired Arrested Development from 2003 to 2006, don't expect the new season to appear after an episode of Glee or Family Guy.

Arrested Development producers are negotiating with Showtime and Netflix about airing the new season, Entertainment Weekly reports.

The deal would mark Showtime's second attempt at picking up the show. In 2006 when Arrested Development was on its way out, the network attempted to save the show, but the deal fell through.

3) The original cast will be back. Why wouldn't they be?

Sunday's gathering at the New Yorker festival was a joyous reunion for the entire Arrested Development family. Bateman, Cera, Arnett, de Rossi, David Cross, Jeffrey Tambor, Jessica Walter and Alia Shawkat all showed up for the festivities. Even producer Ron Howard checked in via speakerphone, according to EW.

4) Expect show information to appear on Twitter, thanks to Arnett and Bateman's weekend announcements.

I'm peeing with @batemanjason at the moment ..and we can confirm that we are going to make new AD eps and a movie, Arnett wrote on Sunday.

It's true. We will do 10 episodes and the movie. Probably shoot them all together next summer for a release in early '13. VERY excited! Bateman echoed on Twitter.

5) The one year wait (at minimum). Shooting for new episodes won't begin until summer 2012, with the movie slated for a 2013 release, according to Hurwitz.

Times are tough and money is tight but I'm very hopeful, there is business left to be done but creatively we have a very specific plan of how it would come out and what we would do and when we would shoot it. Our hope is that, perhaps the series is in the fall, Hurwitz added.
