Dina Manzo: I'm a Pawn for 'Real Housewives' Ratings
What would the Real Housewives do without Twitter?
Former Real Housewives of New Jersey star Dina Manzo has tweeted a denial that Teresa Giudice has come between Dina and her big sister Caroline Manzo -- who famously said the Manzo family was thick as thieves.
Without publishing any direct quotes on the matter, an Us Weekly article claims that Caroline will discuss her estrangement from Dina on The Real Housewives of New Jersey reunion special, which airs on Bravo this coming Sunday.
On part one of the reunion, she reveals that her bond with her sister Dina, a Giudice ally, has officially broken down and that the pair no longer speak, the Us Weekly article claims, without indicating if the reporter had seen a preview of the special or if the tidbit was gleaned from the interview with Caroline Manzo (who offered some choice words for Giudice).
Dina Manzo took to Twitter yesterday to dispute the rift rumor:
Ohh fun! I LOVE being used as a pawn for HW reunion ratings! FUN FUN FUN! Great timing for that article no? #sarcastictweet, she tweeted on Oct. 13.
But it might not just the Real Housewives of New Jersey reunion special benefitting from a ratings boost conspiracy: Dina's new reality show, Dina's Party, premiered recently on HGTV -- and a Franklin Lakes Patch story suggests the producers are getting creative about boosting viewership.
Later, Dina tweeted again: eww getting some MEAN tweets. I didn't take sides, don't assume~didn't even know they were not getting along until recently~I'm not involved.
(She didn't even know they were not getting along -- really?)
On Friday, Dina tweeted some more, begging for the issue to be dropped:
If I get one more tweet about this I may scream. TERESA HAD NO IMPACT ON MY RELATIONSHIP WITH ANYONE. Give it a rest tweeple it's annoying. Just after that, she wrote: Twitter is my fun place, don't ruin this for me please. Keep it light & happy & we'll entertain each other! Ok? deal. Have a lovely day : )
Interestingly, Caroline Manzo has not tweeted any denials, and the sisters have not recently tweeted each other.
Dina Manzo left The Real Housewives of New Jersey very early on in the first season, after struggling with the obsessive Danielle Staub during season one. During an on-camera confessional, Dina once said she wasn't sure if Staub wants to be me or skin me and wear me like last year's Versace.
Matriarch Caroline Manzo was not shy about her feelings for Teresa Giudice in the Us Weekly interview, who wrote that Caroline was as Italian as the Olive Garden in her recently published cookbook.
Teresa is a wolf in sheep's clothing, Manzo told Us Weekly. [Teresa] is hurting people to bring herself up...We all make mistakes and can be cruel and heartless in the things we say and do, but [Teresa's behavior] is different -- premeditated. To sit there and try to hurt someone...assault their character, it's unacceptable. I'm done.
The Real Housewives of New Jersey veteran Jacqueline Laurita, who is also feuding with Teresa, declined to attend the taping of the reunion special, claiming on Twitter that she wasn't feeling well. Rumors persist that Laurita is leaving the show, which is currently filming its fourth season.
