The Dancing with the Stars results show was full of surprises and standing ovations, and in the end, J.R. Martinez took home the Mirrorball Trophy.

On Tuesday night, Martinez, 28, beat out fellow finalists Rob Kardashian and Ricki Lake.

The two-hour finale reunited all 12 teams from the season, including Chaz Bono, David Arquette and Nancy Grace.

This is an amazing honor. We worked really hard for three months . . . America, thank you very much for believing in us, Martinez told Entertainment Tonight following the show.

You're happy because the whole journey was about this day, getting to the end and holding the Mirrorball Trophy but then, you don't want it to end, because it was such a beautiful experience, and the bond that we created, the friendship that we have, it's just, like you don't want it to end, added his partner Karina Smirnoff.

During Tuesday's results show, Lake was the first to be eliminated, placing her in third place of this season's competition. Martinez and Kardashian then competed in an entertaining samba round, choreographed with their partners on the spot.

I'm super happy for J.R. Sucks it couldn't have been me, Kardashian joked after the show.

The 24-year-old brother of Kim, Kourtney and Khloe actually received the highest score during the samba round. But the combined judge-viewer score placed Kardashian in second place, as Martinez took home top honors.

The entire Dancing with the Stars crew is now in New York for a slew of media appearances, including Good Morning America and The View.

Following Tuesday's show, Martinez took to Twitter to express his excitement.

A FREAKING AMAZING!!! REALLY?! WANT TO THANK EVERYONE WHO VOTED FOR @Karina_Smirnoff & I ALL SEASON! PERFECT FINISH TO A MEMORABLE SEASON!!! Martinez wrote.

Here are the five best moments of Tuesday night's Dancing with the Stars results show:.

5) Lady Antebellum

Country group Lady Antebellum did not perform alone on Tuesday's finale. During Dancing Away with My Heart, the band was joined by two pairs of professional dancers -- the Troupe -- caught up in moves and moments that accompanied the emotional ballad. The band appeared on stage again (as did the four dancers), later in the show, singing their hit Need You Know.

4) The Return of Nancy Grace

One of the most entertaining stars of this season was Nancy Grace, who was criticized early in the competition for showing a bit too much skin. On Tuesday's finale, Grace covered up, and reprised her Broadway Week performance of the Foxtrot, to Always Look on the Bright Side of Life from Monty Python.

3) Ricki Lake's Psycho Tango

During the favorite round of Tuesday's finale, Lake and partner Derek Hough performed the Tango to the theme from Psycho. And just like the first time around, Tuesday's rendition was just as powerful, earning the team the highest score of the favorite round (they were eliminated just moments later).

This is one of the most memorable dances of this, or any, season. And the first time round, I really liked it. I loved it the second time, said judge Len Goodman.

2) David Arquette's Cartwheel

Why was David Arquette eliminated so early? His performance of the Quickstep to the Grease soundtrack reminded viewers just how fun the actor is to watch on stage. His cartwheel down the stage was just as impressive the second time around, as was his lifts, facial expressions and footwork.

1) Dancing with J.R. Martinez

First and foremost, I want to thank everyone who voted for us for 10 weeks . . . thank you America, for believing in us, Martinez said moments after his name was announced as winner of Dancing with the Stars season 13. But the more impressive moment was when he acknowledged his partner, Karina Smirnoff.

You are amazing, and I'm so grateful I was able to be part of your first Mirrorball Trophy, he said.
