No Charges Filed Yet in Stanley Case's Car Accident
Authorities have yet to file charges after the accident that killed Stanley Case from CNN Radio, The Associated Press reported Wednesday. Case was 59. His car was involved in a head-on collision with a truck that crossed a median in the rain Tuesday.
The Birmingham News reported that Case was wearing his seat belt. His wife Angela Stiepel Case, who was also riding in the Nissan Altima, remains in critical condition at the University of Alabama Hospital.
CNN anchor and editor Jim Ribble noted that Case's legal training after getting his law degree helped him approach current events in a reasoned, logical and levelheaded way since he started working there in 1985.
Stan was the best, he told CNN. I'll miss him.
Case, who had previously been a correspondent for KEBC-AM in Oklahoma City, was in many ways the backbone of this network, CNN Radio news manager Mike Jones said.
Stan was a rock here, and his death creates a tremendous void, he added.
President Jim Walton of CNN Worldwide stated that although Case might've been a first-rate journalist, he was also a good person.
He was a fine journalist, a leader in our organization and, as anyone who had the privilege of knowing him will tell you, a great guy, he said.
