Aisha Khan Missing: Family Believes College Student was Abducted by Drunken Man
The family of missing college student Aisha Khan believes the 19-year-old was abducted by a drunken man who allegedly harassed her while she was studying at a college in Kansas.
Kahn went missing on Friday while studying at the University of Kansas Edwards Campus after sending a text message to her older sister, Faiza, about a drunken man who harassed her, according to Kansas City Star.
There's a creepy guy that just came up to me, and he was harassing me, Faiza Khan told The Republic, reiterating a text send to her by her missing sister around 11 a.m. on Friday.
Khan said her sister was just freaking out at that time. She didn't know what to do. She said her sister got into an altercation with the drunken man, pushing and slapping them before calling her sister and leaving a voicemail.
Oh my gosh it was so scary, Khan reportedly said in the voicemail. My heart is like pounding. I've never got this scared in my life. Pick up your phones. I am freaked out right now.
After hearing the voicemail, Faiza Khan and a cousin went to the campus and didn't find Aisha, but just her phone, back pack and iPod.
Overland Park police spokesman Matthew Bregel said as many as 40 police officers searched for Khan since she went missing on Friday, but has not labeled the case an abduction.
She is a missing person, Bregel told The Associated Press. We very much would like to make sure she's OK. We have applied resources as if it was an abduction, we're investigating it as if it is an abduction, but we have not been able to make that determination.
Khan's family has printed and distributed more than 5,000 fliers in the Olathe and Overland Park area where she went missing and has started a Facebook group entitled Help Find Aisha Khan, which has over 8,000 likes as of Monday morning.
The family is also offering a $10,000 reward for information about Aisha Khan, who is actually a student at Johnson County College, though she was studying for finals at the University of Kansas Edwards Campus where she went missing.
Aisha Khan is described as 5 feet 2 inches tall, 120 pounds with brown eyes and dark brown hair. When she went missing on Friday, she was wearing a yellow and black shirt, black sweat pants and a black head scarf and possibly glasses.
