Deion Sanders Lawsuit: Wife Suing for $200 Million, Claiming Physical Abuse and Mental Duress
Deion Sanders' wife reportedly filed two lawsuits in Collin county district court against the former all-star. She is seeking $200 million in damages for libelous and slanderous statements posted online about her.
Pilar Sanders alleged in her court documents that her husband, Sanders' daughter and several others were responsible for severe amounts of emotional and physical abuse. This led to mental suffering and public humiliation for Pilar, along with financial losses, reported The Dallas News.
One suit discusses a Twitter posting by Sanders' daughter. The post said that Pilar was the number one gold digger of the year. Deion also allegedly posted on Twitter discussing his wife's lies and foolishness.
The second lawsuit involves an alleged assault that took place in the couple's Prosper home last month.
Deion defended himself on the airwaves Friday morning.
Where are they going to get that money from? Sanders asked the hosts of The Ben and Skin Show on ESPN Dallas 103.3FM, reported Dallas News. That's just like me suing a homeless dude for a burger and some fries.
On the show, he called the lawsuit unfortunate and was saddened that his daughter was named. However, he told the hosts of the radio show that he respected his daughter for defending him.
There's a way to do things and a way not to do things, Sanders said. I don't use the media as a platform to fight my battles. You know, I speak up for myself. But God fights my battles, and I'm fine.
Sanders is the co-founder of Prime Prep Academy charter schools in Dallas and Fort Worth, but said the lawsuit will not distract him from his responsibilities from the foundation.
I'm so happy, man, Sanders said. I cannot wait to walk the halls of these schools.
Deion filed divorce from his wife of 12 years in December, reported Dallas News.
