New iPad Released: How Does ASUS Infinity TF700 Measure Up?

The wait is finally over and Apple has unveiled its highly anticipated new iPad, but how does the tablet measure up against the impressive ASUS Infinity TF700?

When the ASUS infinity was unveiled in January, ASA enthusiasts were blown away by its 1920 x 1200 HD resolution that beats most laptops and more than doubles that of its predecessor, which comes with 1280 x 800 pixels. But the new iPad has done even better.

On Wednesday, Phil Schiller unveiled the new iPad's mighty 2048 x 1536, 3.1 million pixels Retina Display, the most ever in a mobile device. Until you see it you can't understand how amazing it is, said Schiller in his presentation. Schiller compared the new iPad to a 1080p , at 1920 x 1080 display, saying the new Retina Display 264ppi comes with 40 percent better color saturation than before.

Processor

The ASUS TF700 runs on the NVIDIA Tegra 3 quad-core processor, which is one of the most heralded features of the latest Transformer Prime Eee Pad for its speedy, smooth navigation. It operates on the Android Ice Cream Sandwich system.

The new iPad comes with a A5X quad-core processor touted as twice as fast and four times better performance than Tegra 3 chip.

Camera:

The iPad has had a significant upgrade from the iPad 2's feeble 0.8 MP cameras, but it still has some way to go to catch up with ASUS's 8.0-MP, 3264x2448 pixels, autofocus, and LED flash primary camera.

The iPad comes with a 5-megapixel backside illuminated sensor on the back, 5-element lens, IR filter, and ISP built into the A5X chip.

Price

ASUS is yet to make an official statement about the official price of the TF700, but the rumored price is $500 for 32 GB and $600 for the 65GB model.

The iPad 3 is priced $499 for 16GB 32GB is $599 and 64GB for $699.

Release Date

The new iPad is can be pre-ordered now and will kit Apple stores on March. 16. ASUS, however, has announced that the TF700 will not be out until June. The Eee Pad TF201 just launched in December, and experienced severe delays in its U.S. distribution.
