A century has passed since the Titanic's tragic sinking on April 15, yet the legacy of the iconic ship lives on.

Preparations are being made to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Titanic, the sinking of which is considered as one of the deadliest maritime tragedies in history.

The supposedly unsinkable liner sank into the icy waters of the Atlantic after crashing into an iceberg while on her maiden voyage from Southampton, England, to New York. Out of the 2,223 people on board, 1517 perished.

Although there were only a few survivors to recall the horrors of that fateful day, memories of the tragedy have been well-documented throughout the years.
