Move over Batman, there's a new superhero in town fighting crime and his name is Snackman, the latest viral YouTube sensation who used his superpowers of casual snacking to fight bad guys on a New York City subway, an event captured on video in its entirety by an onlooker.

Charles Sonder, a 24-year-old resident of New York now dubbed Snackman, was riding the 6 train headed uptown in Manhattan around 9 p.m. in late March when a fight between two strangers broke out. Sonder stepped between the pair, who were kicking and punching on the train, to thwart the fight, all the while munching on cheddar Pringles and gummy bears.

That's when I stepped between them and just stood there, Sonder told DNA Info. I didn't think of anything else to do.

Little did Sonder know that the entire scene - Sonder standing between the two people fighting while chewing - was captured on video from a cell phone and the uploaded to YouTube.

Heading uptown on the 6 train, this woman sits down next to me, YouTube user EITANNOYZE wrote in the description of the video. Then all of a sudden she jumps up and starts wailing this guy in the face. In complete disbelief I fumble for my phone and capture this...

The video, entitled Fight on NYC 6 Train, has garnered more than one million views since it was uploaded on April 2 and pushed Sonder into the Internet celebrity limelight as the Snackman.

Sonder, who is six-feet-tall and originally a high school wrestling champ from Rhode Island, is an architect by day and a superhero after hours. In fact, he even has his own Facebook page in addition to major buzz around the web on his personal website as the elusive Snackman and even his own Batman-like symbol to project into the city sky: A mock of the mustache man on a can of Pringles.

NYC's chip-eating superhero calmly places his body between the aggressor and the object of the aggression, physically defusing the situation while simultaneously enjoying a crisp, lightly-salted snack, the Snackman Facebook page reads.

Naturally, as it goes on the internet, Sonder is the face of memes with him in superhero getups and even one of him photoshopped into The Last Supper snacking. However, Sonder only learned of his celebrity status this past Tuesday from his mother. Sonder told DNA Info that his mom texted him saying, Hey Snackman.

It's cool to be thought of as maybe some kind of superhero, but I just didn't want to see anyone get hurt, Sonder told CBS2. I didn't stop eating chips while I was doing it, so we had a little laugh afterwards.
