Alexa Chung Instagram Photo: TV Host Addresses Weight Issues, Says She's Not 'Thinspo' for Anyone [PHOTOS]
Moments after posting a personal photo on Instagram on Monday, Alexa Chung found herself on the receiving end of some very nasty comments over her weight.
According to screen captures obtained by the Daily Mail, some fans responded to the Instagram photo with comments like horrid, too skinny and ugly.
The photo features Chung, a British TV host and model, posing with her mother. Both are donning shades, stylish purses and subtle smiles. What the fans went crazy over was the site of Chung's skinny legs.
You're [sic] legs look unhealthy. :( But I love the outfits, wrote one Instagram follower.
I'm worried for her too, wrote another.
About two hours after posting the photo, Chung, 28, had enough.
Hi, I am here. I can read. Ok everyone thanks for the teen angst discussions. People are different sizes. I'm not trying to be thinspo for anyone. I am now making this acct private. Byyyyyeeee, Chung wrote on Twitter, in a series of messages.
Chung has since removed the photo and has made both her Twitter and Instagram accounts private.
It's not the first time Chung's weight has made headlines since the 5'8 Privett, Hampshire native entered the modeling world more than a decade ago.
I cannot express how frustrating it is to not be believed when you say, 'I don't have an eating disorder' . . . I am naturally very thin. I get even thinner when I'm stressed, Chung told British Elle in 2010.
It angers me because I don't want to be a pin-up for young girls just for being thin . . . I don't want to be admired for being thin as opposed to being dressed well, and I don't want the two to get confused, she added.
Chung is currently the face of Italian brand Superga's spring/summer campaign.
