Beyonce Addresses Fake Pregnancy Rumors About Baby Blue Ivy Carter
Beyonce knows what life in the limelight is like. From hounding paparazzi to fallacious tabloids, the singer has been through it all and often shrugs it off. But, when rumors began swirling that Beyonce had faked her pregnancy, the superstar was dumbstruck.
Beyonce was named People's 2012 Most Beautiful Woman and, while talking to the magazine, she opened up about the fake pregnancy rumors regarding her baby girl, Blue Ivy Carter, born Jan. 7.
That was crazy. It wasn't hurtful, it was just crazy, the 30-year-old mother told People. [I thought] 'Where did they come up with this?'
Despite the fact that she and husband Jay-Z make certain to stay a very private couple, Beyonce's tight-lipped pregnancy was deemed a mystery by some from the very beginning.
After revealing her baby bump during MTV's 2011 Video Music Awards in September, the singer perplexed the public after an odd interview. In October, during an interview on the Australian talk show Sunday Night HD, Beyonce's stomach seemed to collapse when she sat down.
The singer's baby bump folded in on itself, causing many to speculate if she was actually wearing a prosthetic belly. Rumors began to swirl that the 31-year-old was actually using a surrogate in order to stay in shape for an upcoming tour.
When the couple released the first photos of baby Blue Ivy Carter, the surrogacy rumors reignited. The release of the photos has reignited rumors that Beyonce used a surrogate to carry and deliver her baby. Skeptics questioned everything from the race of the baby to her hair to Beyonce's impossibly fit post-pregnancy body.
I saw those photos of Blue Ivy Carter - that is some South Asian looking hair, Tweeps, tweeted Broadway actress and screenwriter Erin Quill. When someone joked that Blue Ivy Carter does not look like Bobbi Kristina (Whitney Houston and Bobby Brown's daughter), Quill responded: She doesn't look like a Carter or a Knowles either.
I see a whole lot of Mama Tina and even a drop of Ashanti (that's for all you pillow baby conspiracy theorists), wrote celebrity blogger Michael K. I also see a little bit of my Salvadoran tia after she got all her hair chopped off at Supercuts, but that's a story for another day. Speaking of hair, that baby has so much of it! That baby's hair is laid like Jesus. Or she could already be fooling us all by having the best lace front in the game.
Beyonce's mother, Tina Knowles, was deeply offended by the gossip.
I thought it was very unfair and very cruel that someone would think that someone would be that diabolical to keep up a charade like that for nine months, she told People magazine. As a mother it was painful for me to hear the crazy rumors. And I even had people ask me, which was so ridiculous.
Tina even mentioned the Sunday Night HD incident, when Beyonce's stomach seemed to fold in on itself. Rumors at the time claimed the singer was wearing a prosthetic baby bump.
It was a fabric that folded - does fabric not fold? Oh my gosh, so stupid, said Tina.
However, the Carter and Knowles families received an outpouring of support from fans around the globe over the birth of Blue Ivy.
There was so much love and well wishes from all over the world - it made it easier to deal with the stupid rumors, added the happy grandmother.
