James Peterson, Unemployed Ohio Electrician, Fist Pumps For 16 Hours, Attempts Guinness World Record
An Ohio man is trying to give the cast of Jersey Shore a run for their money. This past weekend, James Peterson, 34, attempted to fist pump for 17 hours straight to set a Guinness World Record. Unfortunately for Peterson, he only made it 16 hours, but he still has a chance to make the cut for the Guinness World Record.
The unemployed electrician began his journey to the fist pumping hall of fame Friday evening. Using two cameras to capture the footage of his hours of fist pumping, Peterson ended his fist pumping spree just after 3 a.m. on Saturday, reported the Akron Beacon Journal.
In an attempt to get his name in the Guinness World Records, Peterson super glued his right hand into a fist, to ensure I maintain perfect fist formation.
According to Yahoo's The Slideshow, holding his fist up in the air for hours isn't much of a stretch for Peterson.
I used to hand light fixtures, said Peterson, so I am used to having my hands above my head.
The 16 hours in the air wasn't all fun and games for the 34-year-old though. I did get a nasty sunburn on my arm, he told the Akron Beacon Journal.
James Peterson name won't be found on the Guinness World Record site just yet. The fist-pumper and his camera men from ZinniHunt productions have to send their footage to Guinness this week.
It should take a few days, said Peterson. We have 16 hours of footage to upload.
If Peterson's fist-pumping quest was successful he will join the ranks of MTV, who has the Guinness World Record for the Most People Fist Pumping in the United States on December 31, 2010. MTV managed to get 5,726 people fist pumping with the cast of the Jersey Shore in Times Square.
