'The Thick Of It' Will Be Streamed Uncensored On Hulu; US Fans Of Britcom Rejoice

The BBC's comedy The Thick Of It will be streamed on Hulu uncensored, and fans of the series are thrilled. The show is a cult favorite, and Hulu is partnering with an international company for the first time to show it, the Huffington Post reported.

Hulu will have U.S. broadcasting rights to play the fourth season of The Thick Of It, which is a British political comedy. It's the first time Americans will see Armando Iannucci's show, a cult favorite and hit in the U.K., according to the Huffington Post.

The Thick Of It has gained an 8.8 rating on the IMDB from more than 3,000 users. The television series has been on the air since 2005 and stars Chris Addison, Peter Capaldi and James Smith.

Armando Iannucci, creator of the show, became widely recognized in the U.S. for his HBO series Veep starring Julia Louis-Dreyfus and the 2009 movie In the Loop, which pokes fun at the relationship between the American and British governments, The Sacramento Bee said.

Earlier seasons of the show ran in America, but they were bleeped. The Huffington Post compares this to cutting out the violence in a Quentin Tarantino film.

That's a difference I'm very enthusiastic about, Iannucci told the Huffington Post. It's not that I want to bring swearing to the masses, but just the rhythm of certain speech I think requires you to hear the full vocal effect.

Hulu decided to pick up The Thick Of It after it noticed other British shows doing well on their site, like Spaced, Rev., Misfits and Whites.

We want to help make the connection between a viewer and something they might not have found, said Andy Forssell, senior vice president of content at Hulu. Far fewer people in the U.S. are familiar with the show than should be because it's just so good and so well done.

There's a lot to love about television in the U.K., said Forssell. They have some of the best TV in the world and some of the worst TV in the world, and I think that's great because it all comes from the fact that they take chances.

I very quickly became obsessed with this show, and it is exactly the kind of show Hulu viewers will love, he added. We're really excited to give U.S. audiences a chance to catch up with all previous episodes, and as series co-producers for season four, we are proud to make full seasons of this distinctive and smart show available exclusively to Hulu viewers.

Iannucci said the fourth season of The Thick Of It is about one of the main characters, Malcom Tucker, losing power and trying to regain it, the website revealed.

Previous seasons of The Thick of It will begin playing on Hulu on July 29 and the fourth season will start this fall when it premieres in the U.K. on BBC2, The Sacramento Bee reported.
