  • Bellator CEO Scott Coker said the door is open for Floyd Mayweather vs. Conor McGregor MMA Fight
  • Former UFC star Cris Cyborg might soon make her pro boxing debut
  • Coker thinks McGregor should be allowed to have his rematch against Mayweather in MMA

Bellator CEO Scott Coker is open for a Floyd Mayweather vs. Conor McGregor MMA fight.

McGregor’s return to UFC was a huge success. Considering the amount of pressure and drama he has gone through during his lay-off, “The Notorious” was able to bounce back with a TKO win over seasoned welterweight Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone. But what waits ahead of McGregor is something that people are really hyped up about – another pro boxing match.

Since the blockbuster Mayweather vs. McGregor boxing match in 2017, MMA fighters crossing to boxing has been quite the new norm in combat sports. And now that McGregor appears to have this constant desire to fight Manny Pacquiao or rematch Mayweather next, UFC’s rival promotion Bellator has “opened its doors” for any conversations.

In a recent media scrum, Bellator boss Coker addressed all the issues about MMA fighters challenging pro boxing champs. According to Coker, boxing vs. MMA “will happen again because some people want to see it.” As an MMA promotion CEO, Coker himself thinks that MMA fighters should be allowed to fight in boxing if he sees that there’s a good reason for it to happen.

“If it’s important to them. We’ll let them do it,” Coker told reporters when asked if he will allow his MMA fighters to fight in boxing.

Coker even sited former UFC star Cris Cyborg, his newest signing in Bellator as an example of what should be done with regards to MMA vs. boxing. He even hinted that Cyborg will soon have her first pro boxing match.

As for McGregor, Coker revealed that he and some of his partners have already talked about McGregor’s next fight. Although it is evidently a long shot for Bellator to be involved with McGregor, (due to the fact that McGregor is with UFC) Coker said that “the door is open” should McGregor and Mayweather already made up their minds.

“The door is open and those conversations are happening. I think it will happen at some point,” Coker said about McGregor vs. Mayweather MMA fight.

Apparently, Coker has been one of the people in combat sports who are in favor of McGregor vs. Mayweather MMA fight. The 57-year-old insisted that the UFC star has put his name and legacy on the line when he agreed to fight Mayweather inside the ring and it is just right to hand him a rematch in his “comfort zone.”

“I always say Conor McGregor should have been allowed to fight Floyd Mayweather in MMA rules. They should reciprocate,” Coker pointed out.
