Betty White crashed “The Californians” sketch for an unexpected smooch on the “Saturday Night Live” 40th anniversary special. The popular sketch is a soap opera spoof of a rich L.A. family whose conversations mostly center around difficult traffic routes. The segment reunited original "Californians" Kristen Wiig, Bill Hader, Fred Armisen, Vanessa Beyer and Kenan Thompson.

Other celebrity guests included Loraine Newman, Kerry Washington and Taylor Swift. Betty White appeared as a great aunt thought dead after a hot air balloon accident. The balloon guide she claims to have saved her was the pool boy who appeared earlier in the episode, “American Sniper” star Bradley Cooper (doing his best surfer dude impression). And then this happened just as the sketch started to feel a little long in the tooth:

Happy 'SNL' 40th anniversary to us all.
