Hallmark Channel's merry holiday season continues with the newest "Countdown to Christmas" holiday premiere, "A Big Fat Family Christmas." The film, starring Shannon Chan-Kent and Shannon Kook, premieres Friday night.

The film will be a treat for fans, as it not only introduces them to one new face but also reacquaints them with one that might be familiar to fans. While this is her first starring role in a Hallmark film, Chan-Kent has appeared in several other titles over the years, including "Christmas Joy," "Flip That Romance," "A Feeling of Home," "In the Key of Love" and "Holiday Date." She also appeared in the Lifetime movie "Sweet Mountain Christmas."

As for Kook, fans may not be familiar with him as he will be appearing on Hallmark for the first time, but he is known for other roles, including in the films "An Assortment of Christmas Tales in No Particular Order" and "The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do it." He is also known for his role as Duncan on "Shadowhunters."

So what can fans expect from the film? Let's find out.

"Liv Chang (Chan-Kent), a photographer at the San Francisco Chronicle, lives a low-key life," a synopsis for the film reads. "She has curated what she believes to be the perfect life for herself—a little less Chinese and a little more American. As a social media influencer, she even goes by the name Liv Rose. Her family, on the other hand, represents something a bit more loud, proud and Chinese. They are the infamous Chang family, responsible for throwing the biggest annual holiday block party in the neighborhood. Their party is a celebration of Chinese American culture, which Liv finds to be over the top."

However, when the paper wants a story on the family, Liv will be forced to confront her past, though she tries to hide her connections to her family from her co-worker.

"She has managed to keep her family a secret until she is forced to partner with Henry (Kook), a new coworker, to cover her family's annual celebration," the synopsis continues.

However, when a mistake threatens to upend all the festivities, Liv may be forced to confront both the truth and her heritage to make things right for everyone.

"Liv and Henry work closely together to capture the story behind the Changtastic Party and, in a moment of fun, almost ruin it by losing all the donations from the community," the synopsis concludes. "Liv's resolve to make things right for her family and the community forces her to overcome her resistance to her heritage and open up to her followers for help, ultimately helping her find herself and true love in the process."

"A Big Fat Family Christmas" premieres Friday, Dec. 2 at 8 p.m. EST on Hallmark Channel.
