  • Eilish previously spoke about body-shaming and normalizing "real bodies"

Billie Eilish is speaking up about body-shamers who called her fat in October when photos of her on a tank top went viral.

While other celebrities who suffered the same scrutiny would lambast naysayers for body-shaming them, the “Bad Guys” hitmaker just shrugged them off. Eilish explained she wasn’t too concerned over the comments about her appearance because she feels confident with herself.

“There’s this picture of me, like, running from my car to my brother’s front door — on like, a 110-degree day, in a tank top,” Eilish told Vanity Fair.

“And everyone’s like, ‘Damn, Billie got fat!' And I’m like, ‘Nope, this is just how I look! You’ve just never seen it before!'” she added.

Eilish made the headlines a few months ago when she stepped out wearing a skin-tone tank top and matching shorts, ditching her signature baggy clothes and dark style. While many lauded the Grammy winner for dressing the way she wanted to, many criticized her and mocked her voluptuousness.

The same week when Eilish’s tank top picture made the rounds on the internet, the “Ocean Eyes” singer shared a TikTok clip from Chizi Duru that highlighted body positivity and advocated for the normalization of “real bodies.” The unperturbed artist admitted that she was trying to send a message across to her fans.

“I love having kids relate to me and tell me that I make them feel comfortable in their bodies. If I can do anything, I wanna do that,” Eilish said.

Eilish wasn’t always unconcerned about body-shamers. In May, she dropped a short film titled “Not My Responsibility,” where she stripped down from her baggy clothes to her underwear. The powerful video was first teased during her concert in Miami, much to the delight of her avid fans.

“[W]hile I feel your stares, your disapproval or your sigh of relief, if I lived by them, I’d never be able to move,” Eilish said.

"If I wear what is comfortable, I am not a woman. If I shed the layers, I’m a slut. Though you’ve never seen my body, you still judge it and judge me for it," she added.
