After some misleading comments about the condition of his daughter, Bobbi Kristina Brown, singer Bobby Brown and his lawyer released a statement Monday to clarify things. According to the statement, the 22-year-old daughter of Whitney Houston is still recovering, but she’s showing signs of improvement.

The confusion began after Bobby Brown told the audience at a concert in Grand Prairie, Texas, Saturday that his daughter was awake for the first time since being found unresponsive in a bathtub at her Georgia home on Jan. 31.

“I can say today ... Bobbi is awake,” he reportedly told the crowd. “She is watching me.”

Bobby’s sister, Tina Brown, shared a similar message on her Facebook page early Monday morning saying her niece was no longer on life support. However, the Houston family told TMZ that what the Browns were saying was completely false. In fact, they said Bobbi Kristina exhibited no change whatsoever. As it turns out, the reality is a bit of both, according to Bobby Brown’s lawyer.

"Due to the numerous requests for an elaboration of the comments made by Bobby Brown on Saturday, April 18, 2015, at his concert in Texas, there is a need to clarify the reports on the condition of Bobbi Kristina,” Brown’s lawyer said in a statement to Us Weekly. “Bobbi Kristina’s condition has changed since moving from Emory University Hospital and there has been improvement. Doctors have indicated that she will have a long life. However, Bobbi Kristina is presently embarking on a rehabilitation process and the quality of her life will not be known for years to come."

The outlet reports that Brown personally thanked supporters for their continued concern for his daughter.

“We thank everyone that supports Bobbi Kristina,” he said. “And God is hearing our prayers.

According to E! Online, Brown’s wife, Alicia Etheredge-Brown, made a statement through the family’s lawyer as well saying that her husband was “in an emotional state” when he made the comments about his daughter being awake at the concert.

“He is encouraged by the steps that Bobbi Kristina has made since her hospitalization on Jan. 31, 2015. She has made it out of ICU, opened her eyes, and started a rehabilitation that will be long and hard,” the statement said.
