Things are heating up as prosecutors prepare for a potential murder trial against Bobbi Kristina Brown’s boyfriend, Nick Gordon. He is currently accused of having abused and manipulated the 22-year-old prior to her being found facedown in a bathtub full of water in her Atlanta-area home in January, leaving her with “global and irreversible brain damage.”

TMZ reports that the family's decision to discontinue life support for Bobbi Kristina, Whitney Houston and Bobby Brown’s daughter, is a sure sign her death is close. Now that the initial criminal investigation is complete, the Fulton County District Attorney has decided to examine the case further. With the allegations made against Gordon, prosecutors seem to feel they have a solid case for murder should Bobbi Kristina die as a result of her injuries.

“In view of the new circumstances regarding the health status of Bobbi Kristina Brown, we will be reviewing the case with greater interest,” the D.A. told the site.

According to the lawsuit, filed by Bobbi Kristina’s conservator Bedelia C. Hargrove, Gordon “perpetuated the fraud” that he and his girlfriend were married in an effort to “control Brown and limit with whom she could interact.” The suit goes on to suggest that he also manipulated her financially to gain access to the $20 million estate she is rumored to have inherited from her mother, as well as any other funds she may have had. Hargrove’s suit claims Bobbi Kristina planned to end her relationship with Gordon on Jan. 31, the day of the tragic incident, after discovering he “was not the man she thought he was.” He is being charged with assault, battery, intentional infliction of emotional distress and transferring money from Bobbi Kristina’s bank account to his without proper authorization. Hargrove is seeking $10 million in damages.

A criminal investigation, focused on the aspiring actress' boyfriend, was launched not long after her Jan. 31 hospitalization. Doctors alerted authorities after close examination of Bobbi Kristina’s body revealed suspicious bruising. Gordon claimed the injuries occurred while he and a friend performed CPR on her prior to the paramedics' arrival. The marks were not consistent with his story, causing further speculation. It has since been revealed that Bobbi Kristina was also missing a tooth and suffering from a swollen mouth at the time of the incident.

The family took Bobbi Kristina off life support June 24, transferring her to hospice care. Her aunt, Pat Houston, confirmed the sad news in a statement released to E! News in which she revealed the family had come to the decision due to the fact that her “condition has continued to deteriorate.” She thanked supporters of the famous family for their prayers and positive thoughts, adding that Bobbi Kristina is “in God’s hands now.” The family remains by her side, ensuring that she feels their presence as they prepare to say goodbye.

Gordon has not addressed the charges made against him by Bobbi Kristina’s legal team. He did, however, recently share a tweet begging her not to “give up,” before making his Twitter account private.
