Bones
Booth (David Boreanaz, left) and Brennan (Emily Deschanel) work what may have been their last case with the FBI and the Jeffersonian in the "Bones" Season 10 finale. Fox

Just when you thought Booth (David Boreanaz) and Brennan (Emily Deschanel) were out, they pull them back in! With the future of the Fox series in question, "Bones" ended Season 10 with Booth and a very-pregnant Brennan calling it quits at the FBI and the Jeffersonian to live a quieter, danger-free life with their new baby. However, with Season 11 premiering Thursday, do not expect the hiatus to last. Some fans, though, might need a refresher on just what had everyone's favorite crime solving couple considering retirement.

Season 10 was a rough one for Booth and Brennan. Booth started the season in prison for a crime he did not commit, while both had to cope with the loss of Sweets (John Francis Daley), who was murdered in the premiere. A decade of crime fighting had taken its toll on the couple and they began "The Next in the Last," the Season 10 finale, planning a new life once their new baby was born. However, they had one more case to solve first.

When a computer consultant named Franklin Holt turned up dead, it was déjà vu for the Jeffersonian gang. The circumstances of Holt's death -- he was found skinned and impaled on an obelisk with a flower in his mouth -- were eerily reminiscent of Christopher Pelant (Andrew Leeds). Fans will remember Pelant as the hacker who once ruined Brennan’s marriage proposal, but fans will also remember that he was killed back in Season 9. As the case unfolded, it was revealed that Pelant was a former client of Holt -- leading to the recovery of the fortune Pelant stole from Hodgins (T.J. Thyne) -- and, with a little help from some forensic pizza, Booth and Aubrey (John Boyd) were able to arrest Leelah, another hacker who killed Holt to get information about the stolen money off of his computer.

Hodgins and Angela (Michaela Conlin), who coming into the finale had been planning a move to France, decided to give the recovered money to charity instead of taking on the stress of keeping it. They also decided the Jeffersonian, not Paris, was where they belonged. Booth and Brennan were not so sure about themselves.

Throughout the entire episode Booth and Brennan had been prepping their subordinates -- Aubrey for Booth and the Jeffersonian "squinterns" for Brennan -- to take over in their absence and with one more thrilling case under their belts, they were ready to call it quits. They even had the destination for their new future picked out -- Kansas. There's no place like home, right?

Will Booth and Brennan return in Season 11? Fans will have to wait to find out, but the promo for the premiere teases a terrifying twist that could bring the whole Jeffersonian family back together. Season 11 of "Bones" premieres Thursday at 8 p.m. EDT on Fox.
