Lee Jung-Jae surprised fans Monday when he posted a selfie with BTS’ Kim Tae-Hyung, commonly known as V. The "Squid Game" star did not caption the post but it has already reached over 1.8 million likes with most fans gushing over the meetup between two of South Korea’s hottest stars.

After opening a personal Instagram account in October, Lee has been posting selfies with local and international celebrities such as Leonardo DiCaprio, Elle Fanning, Eva Chow and Blackpink’s Jennie Kim.

Lee's selfie with V led BTS fans (known as ARMY) to think that the 25-year-old singer and dancer might be appearing in a cameo role in the second season of Netflix’s biggest hit of 2021.

On the third day of the “Permission To Dance” concert in L.A. early this month, V donned a "Squid Game" guard costume much to the delight of their fans.

This twitter user posted a snap of V in the Squid Game costume and simply captioned it, "#V."

As a response, Netflix tweeted, “ While V should never really wear a mask, I am living for this BTS x Squid Game mashup.”

On Monday, ARMYs took to Twitter and started a trending topic expressing their thoughts about the selfie and how it could hint at V’s possible appearance on the hit Korean series.

“Squid Game Hoyeon Jung followed Taehyung on Instagram Taehyung wearing squid game costume Hoyeon Jung liked his squid game photo Netflix Korea reposted his photo on their IG Squid game actor Jung Jae Lee posted a selca with Taehyung. Taehyung on squid game s2?,” twitter user @WoogasquadPH said.

“Jung jae lee posted a photo with taehyung n is following him. hoyeon and netflixkorea liked taehyung's post with squid game outfit..netflix korea shared taehyung's squid game outfit's photo on their story. IM CONNECTING THE DOTS ,” twitter user @taekookalbum echoed.

BTS members are currently on an extended break after their sold-out four-day concert in L.A. and their appearance in the 2021 "Jingle Ball Tour" in California.

Suga, RM and Jin are currently under home quarantine after testing positive for Covid-19.

Meanwhile, "Squid Game" is set to receive a special award from the American Film Institute (AFI) in January 2022. The nine-episode Korean series created by Hwang Dong-hyuk is the only foreign TV show among the AFI honorees next year.

In November, "Squid Game" bagged the award for Breakthrough Series – Long Format at the 31st Annual Gotham Awards held in New York City.
