Caitlyn Jenner’s mother insists on calling him Bruce. Even with much of the world celebrating Bruce's transition into Caitlyn, Jenner’s 88-year-old mother wants to stick to Jenner's original male name. This doesn’t mean she doesn’t support the change. Esther Jenner spoke about the transition and said she is very happy for “him or her.”

"I still have to call him Bruce. His father and I named him that," explained Esther. She spoke to Access Hollywood this week after Caitlyn’s Vanity Fair cover came out. She explained her nostalgic sentiment and said she was struggling with the change in name. Everything will take time to get used to but she is happily going through the adjustment, she said.

Caitlyn flew her mother and her sister out a week before she officially came out and revealed her true self to the world. Caitlyn sent a plane to pick them up since her elderly mother could no longer fly commercial. Caitlyn insisted in her Vanity Fair interview that it was important for her to let her mom meet Caitlyn. She says that the relationship between Bruce and his mother had always had tension. Both of them feel that as Caitlyn, she can have a better relationship with her mother.

“I met Caitlyn. She is … so much more at ease," says Esther. Caitlyn herself said the same thing during the documentary that aired on E! titled “Keeping Up With the Kardashians: About Bruce.” She describes Caitlyn as Bruce Jenner “with a little icing on the top.” Kim Kardashian West, one of Jenner’s stepdaughters, also said that before the transition, Bruce seemed a lot happier when she spoke about Caitlyn.

Now that the whole family has met Caitlyn and the world has seen her through pictures, she is getting ready to make her first public appearance. This could take place during the 2015 ESPY Awards show, which will take place July 15. Bruce/Caitlyn Jenner has been chosen to receive the Arthur Ashe Courage Award and she’s already worrying about what to wear.
