  • Rumors about "Modern Warfare 3 Campaign Remastered" have been rife since last November
  • The game remaster will reportedly release this year
  • A new leak may have revealed the launch platforms of the game

The release details of the heavily rumored "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 Campaign Remastered' have been leaked online, revealing a surprising change in the game's platforms.

Reliable industry insider MW2Ghost on Monday shared on Twitter that "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 Campaign Remastered" might no longer release as a PlayStation exclusive title. It will most likely be launched on PC, Xbox and PlayStation gaming consoles simultaneously, the insider said. The idea surfaced after Activision reportedly cut its ties with Sony for "Call of duty: Modern Warfare 3 Campaign Remastered."

The insider reportedly received information that ATVI had "broken contract with Sony pertaining to Modern Warfare 3 Campaign Remastered," which means, "they can probably just bundle it with CoD 2021 and have it release on both platforms at once (just an example)." The insider did not reveal any more details but promised to update fans soon.

Activision had an agreement with Sony since "Black Ops 3" was released in 2015. The contract means PlayStation users can get exclusive content compared to Xbox and PC gamers. The deal also enabled PlayStation gamers to enjoy "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Campaign Remastered" a month ahead of other gaming platforms.

In May, MW2Ghost claimed that "Modern Warfare 3 Campaign Remastered" was originally scheduled to release in the second quarter of 2021 and would be exclusive to PlayStation consoles for a month. In a tweet, the insider said, "MW3 Campaign remastered is definitely coming this year, and should be coming Q2 which is the original plan, one month exclusive to PlayStation."

However, in a subsequent tweet, the insider expressed uncertainty about the supposed release and exclusivity agreement. "It was originally set for Q2 this year under a deal with PlayStation, but not sure if that’s still the case," the insider tweeted.

Activision has not yet said anything about "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 Campaign Remastered." Fans should therefore temper their expectations about the game's release and launch platforms. Rumors about the game's campaign remaster have been rife online since 2020.
