Chelsea may have not taken a huge step forward in its pursuit of Borussia Dortmund’s Erling Haaland.

The new season is approaching, but no English Premier League club has closed in on signing Haaland yet.

Chelsea is among the big-name English top-flight clubs touted as favorites to land the prolific striker, but apparently, there is still no concrete offer launched.

Speaking on “The Here We Go Podcast,” famed transfer insider Fabrizio Romano bared that according to his sources from Borussia Dortmund, the German outfit has “not received any bid” from the Blues even to this day.

“At the moment from Borussia Dortmund sources, the answer is ‘we have not received any bid for Erling Haaland from Chelsea, nothing,’” Romano revealed. “So, the situation is still quiet.”

Moreover, Romano also stressed that should Chelsea decide to pursue Haaland, the club must make its move in weeks' time as Borussia Dortmund doesn’t like last-minute negotiations.

"Knowing the style of Borussia Dortmund, they are not selling the player in the last week of the window so forget about it,” he added. “If Chelsea has to move it’s now or in some days or in some weeks. Not at the end of the window. Borussia Dortmund is really convinced that the player is staying."

Addressing the current situation of Haaland, Borussia Dortmund’s head of first-team football, Sebastian Kehl, stated that the player’s transfer doesn’t ring any bell at the moment.

“Will [Erling] Haaland stay this summer? Yes,” Kehl told German outlet Bild. “In the discussions with [Haaland’s agent Mino] Raiola for [Donyell] Malen, I did not have the feeling we have to meet again about Haaland. We don’t want to give him up.”

As it stands, Borussia Dortmund has already reportedly turned down Chelsea’s “informal player-plus-cash proposal” for Haaland, Sky Sports Germany reported.

Haaland, on the other hand, still has three years left on his current contract with the Bundesliga side, but reports said that a £150 million ($209 million) bid is being prepared by Chelsea’s rivals Manchester United and Manchester City.

Recently hooting down all the rumors, Haaland himself insisted that he is “enjoying” his time at Borussia Dortmund.

"Before yesterday I haven't spoken with my agent for one month,” Haaland explained. So you have the answer. I hope it’s only rumors because it’s a lot of money for a person."

"First of all, I have three years left on my contract. I’m enjoying my time here. But of course, the trophy (last season's German Cup) was important because that's what I want.“
