Chicago Fire
Here’s what fans can expect from “Chicago Fire” Season 5. NBC

“Chicago Fire” Season 5 is coming soon, and there are a lot of exciting things in store for fans of the show. The wait for the upcoming installment may have been long, but the action-packed premiere episode might just make up for it.

Episode 1 is titled “The Hose or the Animal,” and it will clue fans in on where the characters are after Season 4 ended. The upcoming season will feature a guest star in the first episode, Guy Burnet, who is originally from “Chicago Med.” His appearance might not be a long one, though, because he will actually be lost in the episode. Severide (Taylor Kinney) and Stella (Miranda Rae Mayo) will look for him after he left the hospital abruptly and without telling anyone.

Meanwhile, Borrelli (Steven R. McQueen) will continue to be plagued with problems. The character’s conflict with Chief Boden (Eamonn Walker) for the death of his brother will also escalate. While that will be tension-filled, things might be a little lighter for Mouch (Christian Stolte) and Brett (Kara Killmer), who will start a new journey together.

Casey’s (Jesse Spencer) work as Alderman will also continue, though the relationship between him and Susan Weller (guest star Lauren Stamile), will no longer be tight. Fans will also see the beginning of the new dynamics between Dawson (Monica Raymund) and Casey. Now that they are responsible for Louie, they start to question whether doing their job and putting their lives at risk is still worth it.

Executive producer Derek Haas had teased the Casey-Dawson arc in an interview with Entertainment Weekly, saying the two will not get married, despite many fans’ wishes, but they will start a new chapter in their lives.

Aside from the romance between the two, a “Chicago” crossover romance is also in the works. Sylvie and Detective Antonio Dawson (Jon Seda) from “P.D.” will be romantically linked.

“Chicago Fire” Season 5 will premiere Oct. 11, 9 p.m. on NBC.
