Although NBC’s “Chicago P.D.” has huge storylines for Erin Lindsay, Hank Voight, Desk Sargent Trudy Platt and Jay Halstead in Season 4, a recurring character will also have a major arc in the upcoming episodes. The Intelligence Unit’s tech analyst, Greg “Mouse” Gurwitch, will decide to enlist again.

Mouse (Samuel Hunt) will reach a fork in the road when he tells Halstead (Jesse Lee Soffer) that he wants to join the army again. Of course, the detective is against his friend’s decision to serve the country.

The executive producer of “Chicago P.D.,” Matt Olmstead, told TVLine, “Mouse starts to realize, ‘I’ve got more to offer than just pulling information up on the computer. There’s no way I’m ever going to make it to the [police] academy. I want to go serve again.’ Halstead’s convinced this guy’s on a suicide mission, and Voight’s stuck in the middle a little bit.”

Voight (Jason Beghe) gets stuck in the middle because Mouse needs help cleaning his record which we know isn’t spotless. Olmstead revealed that the Mouse storyline comes to a conclusion when a big choice is made in “Chicago P.D.” Season 4, episode 4.

Halstead’s reluctance to support Mouse is understandable since they served together in Afghanistan. Both of them were in the lead Humvee of a convoy when it was bombed. Mouse was discharged on medical grounds after the explosion.

It was difficult for both of them to readjust to civilian life in Chicago. Mouse even suffered from PTSD in Season 2 due to his time in the army. The tech analyst couldn’t keep a job, hold up a conversation or take care of his appearance following the events in Afghanistan. It is only when he got hired in the police department as a tech genius that he was able to get his life together.

“Chicago P.D.” Season 4 airs Wednesdays at 10 p.m. EDT on NBC.
