Lifetime was all set to renew “The Client List” for a third season but now is facing some baby daddy drama – on and off the screen! Reports are circulating that star Jennifer Love Hewitt and the network can't agree on her character’s on-screen pregnancy in season three.

Hewitt, 34, announced her pregnancy and engagement to “Client List” co-star Brian Hallisay, at the beginning of June. Now, Lifetime and Hewitt, who's believed three-months pregnant, are said to be struggling over how to portray the pregnancy “creatively and logistically” next season.

The actress plays masseuse owner Riley Parks, and Hallisay plays Kyle Parks, her recently release-from-jail husband. According to Deadline.com, Hewitt wants real-life baby daddy Hallisay to also be her character's on-screen baby daddy. Unfortunately, Hewitt’s idea for the story arch differs from what the network has in mind.

“I hear that is at odds with the ideas from the ‘Client List’ showrunner who I hear pitched the series’ male lead Colin Egglesfield, and the network brass, who I hear have not settled on a character as they are looking to keep options,” Deadline writer Nellie Andreeva wrote. The entertainment news website claims that Lifetime is NOT willing to go with Hallisay.

It’s also reported that Hewitt’s backing is what led to Hallisay’s promotion from recurring character to series regular. Both sides are allegedly willing to walk away over the situation, but an insider claims that a “compromise is reachable.”

“There are many story lines we are exploring,” a rep for Hewitt told Deadline. “So any suggestion that we are not doing our best to develop a great season is simply not accurate.”
