CNN Chief White House Correspondent Kaitlan Collins is facing some backlash over a question that caused President Biden to lose his temper at a press conference following his summit with Vladimir Putin.

On Wednesday, Biden answered questions for the press after meeting with the President of Russia in Geneva and began making his way off of the stage. However, Collins asked why Biden was “so confident” that Putin would change his behavior after their summit, which caused him to pause his exit.

Biden appeared upset with the question and replied, “I am not confident he will change his behavior. Where the hell…What do you do all the time? When did I say I was confident?”

“I said …what I said was, let’s get it straight, I said what will change their behavior is if the rest of the world reacts to them and it diminishes their standing in the world. I am not confident of anything. I am just stating the facts.”

Collins then questioned how the summit would be considered “a constructive meeting” when Putin downplayed human rights abuse and refused to say the name of the imprisoned opposition leader Alexey Navalny.

Biden answered, “If you don’t understand that, you are in the wrong business.”

Following the exchange, Collins’ name began trending on Twitter with some people accusing the reporter of attacking Biden to get attention.

“Here’s the problem with the media. Kaitlan Collins was really good at nailing Trump,” the individual wrote.

“But there’s nothing to ‘nail’ Biden for – at least nothing that would generate ratings – so she’s playing gotcha games instead. The media can’t get honest ratings out of an honest politician.”

Another person noted that it wasn’t the first time Collins asked Biden an inappropriate question.

“Kaitlan Collins proved herself to be a moron when she asked the stupid question of the year about whether Harris will be on the ticket in 2024. If you didn’t get then how useless she is I don’t know what to tell you,” the critic tweeted.

Following Biden’s first formal press conference in March, Collins was criticized for asking the president if Kamala Harris would be his running mate in 2024.

The reporter faced backlash for failing to ask questions about the coronavirus pandemic and other serious matters plaguing society.

Despite criticism over Collins’ latest question, she received an apology from Biden before he boarded Air Force One to fly back to Washington.

“I owe my last questioner an apology. I shouldn’t have been such a wise guy with the last answer I gave,” Biden told reporters on the tarmac.

Collins told colleagues that she appreciated Biden’s apology following the incident and noted that “he did not have to apologize.”
