Comcast Outage For 4,000 Chicago-Area Residents Caused By Residential Fire
Nearly 4,000 Comcast customers are without Internet or cable service after a residential fire on Thursday night in Chicago. The fire occurred sometime before 7 p.m. in a Logan Square neighborhood, according to WGN.
The city's fire department told the Chicago Sun-Times that the fire began in a residential garage, and were able to extinguish it and prevent it from spreading to a nearby vacant home. No one was hurt but the garage is a complete loss, reports said.
However, thousands of Comcast customers have no Internet or cable television service. Those with VoIP phone service are also unable to use their telephones.
The company said the fire damaged a node in its network and that it is working with the fire department to restore service to affected customers.
