Five people in New York were victims of separate killings during Memorial Day Weekend, and amid the coronavirus lockdown, the New York Police Department (NYPD) said. Three of the victims were fatally stabbed while one man succumbed after his head was bashed with concrete.

Some of these homicide cases remain unsolved Monday (May 25), per the New York Post. The NYPD is likely going to face a tougher week ahead as the rising summer temperature might make the lockdown even harder to bear.

"There’s just a lot of negativity going on," a police source said. "The fact that there’s an epidemic and people can’t get outside, finances are horrible for a lot of people who don’t know where their next check is going to come from."
