KEY POINTS

  • The coronavirus shouldn't be taken lightly by anyone
  • There are still college kids who insist on pushing through their spring break vacation
  • Udonis Haslem has some words for those who refuse to stay at home

The threat of the coronavirus affects everyone as it continues it’s spread across the world. It still remains as everyone’s priority as it persists on infecting thousands of people across different countries.

Everything was put to a halt given how the virus has rapidly changed the landscape of everyone’s daily lives. The NBA along with all the major events in the world have either been suspended or pushed back to ensure the health and safety of everyone.

Several NBA players have already tested positive from COVID-19 and it has also spread to the loved ones of these athletes. The most recent case of the virus is Karl-Anthony Towns’ mother who is in critical condition.

While the severity of the virus continues, reports have surfaced that there are still those who persist in partying during their spring break. It has been a tradition for the youth to go to the beaches during this season for an all-out weekend of social interaction and partying.

These consist of large gatherings of people, sharing drinks, with close physical contact with one another. It is a blatant violation of the social distancing that is required from everyone to stop the spread of the virus. Given that there is still no cure for COVID-19, the best way to fight is a man-made solution: to stay at home. This will flatten the curve of infection and help save more lives in the future.

The fact that there are still groups of people, mainly college kids, who do not follow the mandated direction, does not sit well with the majority of people. This includes Miami Heat veteran Udonis Haslem. “I’m not a public health expert. But I’m a certified O.G.,” the former NBA champion said. Haslem is known to be one of the toughest players in the league with the energy he brings inside the paint.

“F**k your spring break. Just keep your a** at home,” he added. In times like a global pandemic, it’s important that people must be careful at all times. Keeping a safe distance from people while observing proper hygienic measures are important.
