"Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time" daw a soft relaunch on March 26 for the Nintendo Switch, next-generation gaming consoles and Windows PC. However, it seems that the PC version of the game was unhappily received by PC gamers.

On Saturday, just a day following its launch, a team claimed that it successfully cracked the former console-only title.

"Crash Bandicoot 4" is exclusively available on the Battle.net app of Activision-Blizzard. Surprisingly, the PC game requires an online connection to launch it. Players were slapped with login errors when they realized they are not connected to the internet.

It is actually a standard practice for any title on Battle.net. However, the reason why most PC gamers trying their hands on "Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time" are disappointed is that it has no online multiplayer.

Players can only enjoy it either in local co-op or solo. One of the biggest turn-offs of any PC game is that it necessitates an internet connection to launch even if it is a totally offline title by nature. Another issue players complain about the PC game is the login error which occurs without any warning. This happens whenever there is no internet connection.

The worst thing that could happen to a player is being forced to lose progress because they have no internet connection or got disconnected along the way. While most digital rights management (DRM) like this provides a warning or enable players to save before disconnecting, this is not the case with the "Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time" PC version.

Meanwhile, the cracking-team called Empress claimed to have bypassed the online requirement of the game. The hack changed a file in the install. Unfortunately, the team behind the said crack did not explain what the crack does aside from noting that it defeated the DRM and eliminated its online-only requirement to launch.

A PC performance analysis on the game was recently conducted by DsoGaming. According to the site, "Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time" performs incredibly well on the PC platform. It added that "the game does not require a high-end PC system, displays proper keyboard on-screen prompts, works wonderfully with the keyboard, and looks great. For what it’s worth, we did not experience any crashes or stability issues, even with Activision’s servers, the site claimed." And yes, "the only downside with this game is its always-online DRM," the site admitted.
