Halloween is just around the corner! It’s time to dig in to the secret stash of candy, dress up in creepy costumes and carve out Jack-o-Lanterns. While many of us are celebrating the holiday dedicated to all things scary, “Criminal Minds” actor Matthew Gray Gubler, who plays Dr. Spencer Reid on the CBS crime series, also loves to dress up for Halloween. In fact, judging from his Instagram account, this is his favorite holiday.

Gubler shared a self-portrait of himself but it isn’t his face he drew. The former fashion model sketched a frightening pumpkin sporting an evil smile and captioned it, “Self portrait.”

The 36-year-old actor recently dressed as a frightening clown holding a candelabra while sitting on a plush sofa. “It’s officially fall! hold a candelabra and scare your mom!” he wrote. He also uploaded a selfie in front of a mirror while wearing the creepy clown costume. “On the first day of fall I like to deliver pumpkins to friend’s doorsteps late at night while holding a candelabra and dressed like this,” he wrote.

Gubler was clearly excited about dressing up for Halloween. After delivering the pumpkin to his friend, he enjoyed a game of pinball. “Usually I say nothing, just hand the pumpkin and leave, but sometimes I come in to play pinball and eat all your snacks,” the “Criminal Minds” actor explained.

The Spencer Reid portrayer loves clowns. He even visited a clown motel during the summer so it’s no surprise to Gubler fans that he chose to don a Joker-like costume for Halloween.

Gubler has directed several episodes of “Criminal Minds” including the eerie Season 10 episode “Mr. Scratch.” In Season 12, he has directed episode 10 titled “Elliot’s Pond.” The actor promises it will “spook your socks off.”

“Criminal Minds” Season 12 returns on Wednesday, Oct. 26 at 9 p.m. EDT on CBS.
